Art and culture festival
It
has been very long time I didn’t posting something here. I got a lot of work
and assignments, so I can’t post often anymore. Okay, let me tell you about the
festival that I just involved in it.
That day was 27th
September 2014, two days after the anniversary of Bandung City. In order to
celebrate the anniversary of Bandung City, my school held a festival of art and
culture titled Matswapati. Matswapati is the king of all the wayang. Wayang is a puppet of the native
culture of Indonesia.
About Matswapati, there were so
many amazing performers and most of the performers who showed the genuine
cultural of West Java Province. There are Komunitas Hong who showed traditional
games which popular in West Java on ancient times, Wayang Golek Giriharja who
showed a story with his Wayang and they succeed to entertain the audience,
Orkestra Semi Dangdut ITB who sang dangdut songs with distinctive traits and
made us laughter, there are Calung show, Benjang show, Reog show, Pencak Silat,
Debus, Sambasunda Junior, Indonesian Bamboo Community, and Saung Angklung Udjo.
Beside of that performers, there
were some performers from my school also helped enliven this festival such as
MK (Classical Music), KV (Vocal Group), LSS (Sundanese Art Community), KPA
(Angklung Performance), and TsT (Tiloe’s Theater).
Now I will explain about TsT.
Have you ever watched a theatrical performance? How do you feel? TsT is an
extension of Tiloe’s Theater (Read: Tiloe=3). TsT is one of the most preferred
extracuriccular in my school because TsT always shows a slick and entertaining
story. So we were always waiting for the next performance of TsT.

In Matswapati, TST performed by
bringing the story of Kabayan
and Nyi Iteung
(original story of
West Java). Kabayan
would go to the city looking
for jobs and left Iteung, his sweetheart in
the village. Kabayan turned into a people who lived in big city because of the influence and brought him to cheat on Iteung. Then when Iteung saw him with another woman, Iteung felt betrayed and
left Kabayan, but with all his resources and efforts, Kabayan apologized to iteung and he felt very sorry to
have left iteung then
they got back together. The story sounds serious but
when played by TsT looks so funny and attractive.

Matswapati top event is in the
afternoon when the main guest
star appeared to entertain the visitors
such as Barsena and
Glenn Fredly. Barsena is
a new musician as a winner of NEZ ACADEMY last year.
While Glenn Fredly is a famous musician who has many years of work in Music
Indonesia.

Matswapati’s visitors at the festival is not only SMAN 3 Bandung residents but
also visitors from outside the
school generally. This event held in Bali Court at Bali street number 8
Bandung. The event started at 7 am until 8 pm
opened with a
parade contest around the city and
was opened by the
mayor of Bandung Ridwan Kamil.

This festival is considered successful because for approximately 7 years, my school doesn’t
hold a big event like this. Therefore this festival
was in waiting. In
addition, each
class must have
a booth at
the festival and each
class is required to decorating
as attractive as possible and the the most fun of pra event Matswapati is to decorate
our own booth. Overall,
Matswapati was very pleasant and gave
me a lot of lessons
and I am happy to wait for an event like this
wil be held again.
